CCCGT:
Chinese Culture @ your library (TM)
The Richard Charles Lee Resource Centre—the CCC Library

The Richard Charles Lee Resource Centre/Library occupies the east wing of the second floor of the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto. The Resource Centre opened its door to the public on October 6, 1998.

The Resource Centre has print as well as electronic materials covering a wide range of subject matter on Chinese culture and civilization. At present there are in the book collection close to 5,000 titles in Chinese, both traditional and simplified script, and in English. These are searchable on-line. In the periodical collection, there are some 30 Chinese titles. There is also a magazine collection in both Chinese and English. A number of videotapes, CD-ROMs, VCDs, and DVDs are available.

The Resource Centre was established as a specialized subject reference and research centre. Today the bulk of the library collection is available for circulation.

In building up its collection, the library has focussed on three areas:

  1. all kinds of writing by or about Chinese Canadians;
  2. all aspects of Chinese regional cultures or ethnic minorities;
  3. all aspects of Chinese culture and civilization, including economic and political development and law.

Contributions are invited for a fourth area of focus:

  1. masters and doctoral theses on Chinese and Chinese-Canadian life that have been completed in Canadian universities.

The Resource Centre is staffed by a dedicated team of volunteers. The librarian is Mr. Chuck Wong, who served on the library staff of Laurentian University, Ontario, Canada, for over three decades.

Members of the public are cordially invited to visit the resource centre/library. Students are encouraged to do research here.
